Short answer: the main wooden dining table designs are the carved classical rectangle, the marble-top luxury table, the brass-inlay table, the vintage plank-style table and the round pedestal table. Rectangular six- and eight-seaters suit most Pakistani homes; round tables suit small or square rooms; marble and inlay tops are for formal dining rooms.

1. The carved classical dining table

A solid Sheesham rectangle with carved aprons and turned or cabriole legs, paired with high-backed carved chairs. The traditional choice for a family dining room. See our classical dining sets.

2. The marble-top table

A carved wooden base with a marble top. Heat- and scratch-resistant on the surface, and very formal in look. Marble is heavy, so check the floor and access for delivery. Browse luxury dining.

3. The brass-inlay table

Brass lines or motifs set flush into the wooden top. Striking and heirloom in character; it needs coasters and placemats to protect the inlay from hot dishes.

4. The ten-seater luxury table

For joint-family homes and large gatherings — about 300 cm long. Only choose it if the room is at least 480 cm long to leave space to pull out chairs.

5. The vintage plank table

Wide, simple boards with a hand-worn finish and solid legs. Relaxed, forgiving of daily wear and suited to kitchens and informal dining. See vintage dining.

6. The round pedestal table

A central carved base instead of four legs, so nobody sits against a table leg. A 120 cm round seats four; 150 cm seats six.

7. The carved table with upholstered chairs

A mix many families now choose: a carved wooden table with padded, fabric-covered chairs for comfort at long meals.

Dining table sizes at a glance

  • 4 seats — 120 cm rectangle or 120 cm round
  • 6 seats — 180 cm rectangle or 150 cm round
  • 8 seats — 240 cm rectangle
  • 10 seats — 300 cm rectangle

Leave 90 cm of clear space around the table on every side. The full method is in our dining table size guide.

Which wood top is most practical?

  • Polished Sheesham — warm and repairable; use mats for hot dishes
  • Marble — heat-resistant, but can stain from oil, lemon and tea if not sealed
  • Glass over wood — protects a carved top, but hides its best feature
For daily family use, a solid Sheesham top with placemats is the most practical. Scratches and heat marks can be sanded and re-polished; a cracked marble slab cannot be repaired invisibly.

Price range

In our current catalogue, dining sets run from about Rs 148,000 for a round vintage table to Rs 585,000 for a ten-seater luxury set. See all dining sets.

Frequently asked

Which dining table design is best for a Pakistani home?
A rectangular six- or eight-seater carved Sheesham dining table suits most Pakistani homes. A round table suits small or square rooms, and marble-top or brass-inlay tables suit formal dining rooms.
Is a marble or wooden dining table better?
Marble resists heat and scratches but can stain from oil, lemon and tea and cannot be invisibly repaired if cracked. A polished solid wooden top needs placemats for hot dishes but can be sanded and re-polished, which makes it more practical for daily use.
How big is a ten-seater dining table?
A ten-seater rectangular dining table is about 300 cm long and 100 cm wide. The room should be at least 480 cm long so chairs can be pulled out comfortably.
