If the budget will not stretch, keep the material and reduce the number of pieces. A side table can be added next year. A bed cannot be replaced cheaply.

• 12 weeks ahead during the October to February wedding season
• 8 to 10 weeks ahead outside the season
• 6 weeks is possible for simpler designs only
• Under 4 weeks usually means buying ready stock instead of a matched made-to-order set

Hand-carved furniture takes time because a single headboard is about three weeks of carving, before joinery, polishing and curing.
